Launched in the fall of 2014, the San Diego International Airport's Ready, Pet Go program is a partnership between the airport and Traveler’s Aid Society of San Diego, with the goal of enhancing the overall passenger experience.
As members of the airport’s Volunteer Airport Ambassador program, the dogs and their handlers roam the terminals and provide stress relief and comfort to passengers who would like to interact with them. Passengers regularly comment that they love seeing warm, wet noses and wagging tails that create a friendly, positive experience at SAN.
- The program currently consists of 18 dogs ranging in size from a small breed Shih Tzu to a large breed Goldendoodle
- SAN is now one of 30 airports across the country with a therapy dog program
- Each dog routinely interacts with approximately 200 passengers during their two-hour shifts
